Specity disk (enter its number): 위의 format의 예는 SBUS interface (sbus@f...)와 SCSI DMA Controller (espdma@f)에 접속된 SCSI host adapter(esp@...)에 연결된 SCSI disk device(sd@...)를 보여준다.
IPI Xylogic disk device는 ip와 xd로 시작하는 id를 갖는다. Format 명령의 Output는 Logical Device와 Physical Device Name이 Display된다.

다음 page에서는 Disk의 논리적 이름에 관해 기술하겠다.

2.1.2 Logical Disk Device Names

Logical Disk Device Names은 System Administrator나 User가 Disk나 File System에 관계된 명령을 이용할 때 사용된다.

Bus-Oriented

Controllers Sun system은 Bus Oriented Controller(SCSI와 IPI)에 연결된 Disk Device의 Logical Device Name을 기술할 때 아래의 형태로 사용한다. Logical Device Name 은 /dev directory에 있으며, /devices directory의 해당 Physical Device Name에 Symbolic Link되어 있다.

Controller Number

Controller 또는 Interface number는 각각의 Interface card에 순차적으로 자동 할당되어 c0, c1, 또는 c3등으로 나타낸다. System 내의 SCSI Interface 가 내장되어 있으면, OS가 해당 card dp 0을 할당 하여 내장 SCSI card에 연결된 모든 disk device가 c0로 시작되는 device address를 갖는다. Controller Number c1은 두 번째 SCSI host adapter 또는 esp1을 나타낸다.

Target Address

t0, t1, t3 같은 target address는 선택된 각 device의 switch setting 과 일치한다. 외장형 disk drive는 real panel에 있는 address를 의미한다. 내장 disk drive는 사전에 3으로 지정된 jumper set을 갖고 있으며 두 번째 내장 disk drive는 일반적으로 1로 set되어 있다.

Disk Number Disk

Number는 SCSI Device나 IPI 어떤경우에도 d0로 set 되어있다.

Slice(Partition) Number

Slice Number는 0~7까지이며 전체 Disk는 Slice 2번으로 나타난다. Disk Device 는 Logical Device Name에 의해 Access되며 그 이름에는 Slice Number가 포함되어야 한다. Controller/Disk/Target만으로는 Disk를 Access할 수 없다. /dev/dsk directory에는 System의 Device와 Partition들의 Logical Device Name들이 있다.

Direct Controllers

Xylogics 451 또는 7053같은 direct(또는 non-bus oriented)controller에 연결된 disk는 logical device name에 .arget number가 들어있지 않다.

다음 Page에서는 디스크의 물리적인 이름과 Address의 Setting에 관해 기술하겠다. 그럼 다음 Page를 보도록 하자.

2.1.3 Physical Disk Device Names

Physical device name은 시스템에 연결된 모든 device를 표현하며, 해당 device file은 /devices directory에 저장된다.

SCSI Device

SCSI host adapter의 Physical Name은 esp@0이다. 각각의 SCSI host adapter는 7개의 Device를 지원하며, 각각이 다른 Target Address를 갖는다.

Xylogics Device

아래의 예는 첫번째 Xylogics Disk(disk unit 0)을 나타내며 첫번재 외부 Xylogics Controller에 연결된 것이다. /devices/vme/xdc@6d,ee80/xd@0,0:a 여기서 각각은 VME bus, Xylogics Controller, Xylogics Disk Unit Number, Patition or Slice를 (순서대로) 가르킨다. 　

2.1.4 Setting Disk Drive Address

하나 이상의 Disk를 연결하려면, 각 Disk의 SCSI Target Address를 서로 다르게 Setting해야 한다. Extennal Adderss와 Internal Jumper Setting으로 Disk Drive 의 유일한 Target Address를 정한다.

Logical Controller Number는 OS에 의하여 자동으로 할당된다. 새로운 Disk Device나 SCSI Device를 추가할 때에는 반드시 기존의 Target Number와 겹치지 않도록 하여야 한다. probe-scsi, probe-scsi-all 과 probe-ipi명령은 PROM monitor mode(ok prompt) 상에서 Disk Device에서 Set되어있는 Target Device Number를 Display 한다. 최대 7개의 Device가 각각의 SCSI host adapter에 daisy-chain으로 연결되며 IPI Controller에는 8개의 Device가 연결되는데, 각 SCSI Device와 IPI disk는 고유의 Target Address를 갖는다.

그럼 다음에는 Disk를 새로이 추가하는 법에 대해 알아보자. 지금까지의 내용이 Disk에 대한 기초가 되었는지 모르겠지만 다음 Page 의 내용은 실질적인 면에서 활용되는 부분이다. 실질적이라고는 하지만 이 Page의 내용과는 유사한 내용이 많을 것이다.

2.2 새로운 Disk의 추가

시스템에 새로운 disk를 추가하는데에는 5가지의 주요 step이 있다.

1. Switch setting, cable연결 등의 Hardware setup

2. 새로운 disk를 인식하도록 System을 Configuring

3. Disk Partitioning

4. Partition에 대한 File System생성

5. Partition정보를 File System Table File(/etc/vfstab)에 추가

2.1 새로운 Disk를 인식하도록 시스템 재구성

1. /reconfigure file을 생성하여 reboot시 재구성을 수행하도록 한다.
# touch /reconfigure

2. System을 Halt시킨다.

3. 전원을 끈다.

4. 새로운 Disk를 연결한다.

5. 전원을 올린다. 재구성 boot process는 새로운 disk에 대한 Physical/logical device항목을 자동으로 생성한다. 시스템이 disk를 인식하도록 configuration된 후 disk partition setup작업을 한다.

2.2 Disk 구조 이해

Disk의 Physical한 사양은 아래와 같다.

·Disk는 여러개의 판(platter)으로 구성되어 양면을 Read/Write한다.
·판(platter)는 Spindle주위로 회전한다.
·Read/Write Head는 Head Actuator Arm에 의해 Unit별로 이동한다.

Solaris 2.x File System은 Disk I/O 성능 향상을 위해 Low-Level Formatting Parameter를 이용한다.

·File의 Block은 512 Byte로 된 Sector에 저장된다.
·Sector는 Track을 구성하며 한 번의 Disk 전진시의 현위치에서 주어진 Head에 Read 또는 Write한다.
·주어진 위치에서 모든 Head가 제공하는 Track들의 합을 Cylinder라 한다.
·Disk는 계속 회전하고 Read/Write Head가 단위단위로 움직이기 때문에, 하나의 Cylinder에 Read/Write하는 경우에 가장 효과적으로 Seeking이 발생한다.
·Partition은 Cylinder 경계에서 시작된다. 이 장에서는 Disk를 인식하도록 하는 시스템의 재 구성과 Disk의 구조에 대해 기술을 하였다.

다음 Page에서는 Partition과 Label을 이해하고 Format 유틸리티를 활용하는 법을 기술하겠다.


2.3 Disk Partition과 Label의 이해

Partition은 디스크의 시작점에서부터 Offset(거리)과 Size에 의하여 정의된다. 디스크 Partition의 Offset과 Size는 Partition Table에 정의해 둔다. Disk's Volume Table Of Contents(VTOC)이라 불리우는 Disk 의 Lable은 아래 내용들을 포함하고 있다.

·각각의 Partition이 Writable인지 Mountable인지를 결정하는 Partition Flag

2.4 Format Utility 활용

Sun Install Utility는 선택한 Software를 Install하기 위해 Disk Partition을 실시한다. Format Utility는 Install 후에 Disk 추가나, Repartition을 원할시 Disk Partition을 실시한다. 이것은 Swap Partition을 추가하는 것도 포함된다. Format Utility는 CD-ROM이나 Shell로 부터 운영되어지는, Disk 유지 보수용 Tool이며, /(root)나 /usr 을 포함하고 있는 File System이나 Swap Partition을 수정할 때도 사용되어진다.

1. Shell상에서 format을 입력한다.

Format Utility가 실행될 때, 사용가능한 Disk의 Physical Name, Physical Parameter, Marketing name, Logical name이 나타난다. Marketing name은 SUNnnnn으로 시작되며, 예를들어 SUN00424이다.현재 시스템에 의해 인식되어지는 disk중 하나를 선택한다.

2. 하나의 disk를 선택하기 위해서는 숫자를 입력한다.

2.5 Format Main Menu

2.7 저장된 Partition Tables의 검사

Partition Table은 여러 가지 다른 형태로 존재한다.

·모든 format된 disk는 partition table을 보유 ·predefined partition table은 /etc/format.dat file로 저장되며, format에 의해 호출된다.
·format에 에서 disk를 선택할 시, partition table은 disk label을 현재의 label로 기록한다. 현재의 label은 메모리 안에 있는 label이다. predefined label로 선택할 수도 있다.
현재의 label은 수정될 수 있으며:
·partition menu에서 label명령어로 disk로 label을 기록할 수 있다.
·partition menu에서 name 명령어로 이름을 짓고, predefined table에 추가하며, format utility에서 save한다. 　

2.8 New Disk의 종류

Disk 추가시는 공급회사의 disk 형태에 따라 서로 다른 취급이 요구된다.

·sun에서 구입되는 preformat 된 disk는 /etc/format.dat에 predefined partition table 및 disk label을 가지고 있다.
·sun이나 다른 Vendor에서 구입된 새로운 Disk는 또한 /etc/format.dat 파일에 여러 개의 Defined Partition Table을 가지고 있고, Preformat이 되어 Disk Label을 가지는 경우와 그렇지 않은 것도 있을 수 있다.
·Sun에서 지원하지 않는 Disk는 /etc/format.dat File에 Predefined Partition Table이 없다. 이 Disk는 Disk 사양에 대한 정보가 필요하다. 이러한 Disk는 또한 Preformat 되어 Disk Label을 가진 것과 그렇지 않은 것도 있다. 이로써 지루한 디스크에 대한 얘기가 조금 끝이 났다. 다음 Page부터는 기대를 해도 좋을 것이다. 　

2.9 Partition 정보조회

Print선택은 현재 Partition table을 보여준다.

-disk가 volume name을 가지고 있다면, table의 첫번째 line에 있는 volume 단어뒤에 나타난다.
-Partition table의 이름은 table두번째 line의 괄호( )안에 나타난다.
-table의 각 column의 의미는 다음과 같다.

아래는 Partition Size변경벙법을 설명한다.

1. Partition 0에 20 MB로 size 증가시키는 예를 들어본다.

free hog partition은 다른 partition의 size가 변경됨에 따라 확장과 축소되는 disk영역 accumnlator로서 사용된다.(이 기능은 SunInstall`s Unallocated space Meter와 유사하다)

5. Partition () size에 20MB입력, 다른 partition size는 현재 size로 입력

Format utility는 다음번 cylinder의 size에 Mbyte단위로 반올림 한다. modify option을 사용하면 partition영역들 사이에 'holes'이 없는 다른 partition영역의 초기 cylinder영역을 자동으로 조정해 준다.

7. Partiton Table 의 사용을 확인한다.

Partition영역검사 Partition size의 감소한 영역만큼 현재의 Partition과 다음번 partiton사이에 쓸모없는 영역이 있게된다. Partition size를 조정하기 위해 0-7 option을 사용할 시, cylinder의 시작과 끝을 연속적으로 만들어줘야 한다. 이로서 디스크의 Partition에 관한 부분은 거의 끝이 났다.

다음 Page부터는 Mount에 관해 할 것이다. 지금보다 더 중요하니 잘 보기 바란다.


2.11 Mounting File Systems

Local 및 분산파일 시스템

대부분의 관리자는 local(disk-based)파일시스템과 원격(분산)파일시스템으로 작업하게 된다. 이 장은 local파일시스템에 대해서만 언급한다.

Local(disk-based)파일시스템

이들 파일시스템은 disk나 CD-ROM또는 디스켓처럼 물리적인 미디어에 저장된다. ufs 기본 disk파일시스템은 BSD의 fat fast파일시스템에 기초한다. hsfs CD-ROM파일시스템(High sierra파일시스템) pcfs DOS디스켓 data의 read/write를 지원하는 file system

분산파일 시스템

분산파일시스템은 network에 접속된 다른 시스템의 access를 지원한다.

File System의 Mount와 Unmount

Mounting은 분산된 file system을 하나의 디렉토리에 모으는 일련의 과정이다. 일반적으로 mounting과 unmounting은 시스템이 startup 및 shutdown될 때 자동적으로 실행된다. 시스템의 관리자가 파일시스템 mount또는 unmount의 작업이 필요한 상황은 일반적인 경우는 아니지만 있을 수 있다. 이러한 상황은 backup을 하거나, 파일시스템 불일치를 check, repartition하는 경우를 포함한다. 추가적으로, disk reconfiguration 은 때때로 file system이 system startup 및 shutdown시 자동 mount를 위해 /etc/vfstab의 변경이 필요하다.

새로운 File system의 Mount Test

앞에서 생성한 file system을 mount한다.

#mkdir /database
#mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0/database

file system을 unmount하여 user가 access 불가하도록 한다. 아래의 두가지 중 하나를 사용한다.

-device special file system name이용하는 방법

# unmount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0

- /etc/vfstab file에 지정된 monut-point이용하는 방법

# unmount /database

위에서와 같이 파일시스템은 mount와 unmount가 가능한데, 일반적으로 시스템 startup이나 shutdown시에 자동으로 진행된다.

Local File System의 Mounting All

startup이나 shutdown시에 모든 local file system는 하나의 명령으로 mount또는 unmount된다 local file system의 mount all local file system은 system이 run level 2가 될 때, Mountsys script에 의해 mount된다. 이 script에서 사용하는 명령은:

mountall -l (-l option은 local file system을 의미한다)
mountall명령은 어떻게 작동하는가

mountall 명령은 Assembly instruction book에 있는 "assembly required"중의 "attach all screws."와 같은 step이다. step의 어딘가에 attach되는 screw들의 list가 있다. mountall명령에서 이 정보들은 /etc/vfstab file의 mount at book field에서 제공된다.

2.11 Mounting File Systems

/etc/vfstab File

이 file은 file system mount를 위한 defult setting을 제공한다. file의 형식은 line당 7개의 field로 구성된 record가 존재하며 dash(-)는 field의 value가 null임을 의미한다.

아래의 버튼을 눌러 file을 보자.
field의 의미는

device to mount local ufs file system의 logical(block)device name
device to fsck local ufs file system의 logical(block)device name
mount point local file resource의 default mount point
FS type local file resource에 대해서는 항상 "ufs"이다.

fsck pass ufs file system은 이 field의 값이 양수이어야 check된다. dash (-)는 check하지 않을것을 의미한다. 값이 1이면 각각의 ufs file system은 순차적으로 check되며, 1보다 큰경우 sck는 최대의 효율을 볼 수 있도록 서로 다른 disk에 있는 다수의 ufs file system을 병렬로 check한다.

mount at boot yes나 no를 표시하여 시스템이 run level 2가 되거나, mountall 명령이 issue 되었을 때 file resource mountall 여부를 결정한다.

/(root>와 /usr은 이 기능과 관계없이 /etc/rcs.d/S30rootusr.sh script에 정의되어 mount됨으로 mount-at-boot field는 no이다.

mountall명령은 boot시에 mount되어야 할 장소를 정하는 entry를 이 file에서 사용 한다. 특별히 mount-at-boot field에서 file system type을 결정한다. ufs(local) file system의 1번째, 3번째, field에 유의한다.

이 field는 mount될 file system과 mount point를 list한다.

Mount될 File System의 정보조회

mount는 일반적으로 자동수행되기때문에, 주어진 때에 어떤 file system을 mount할 것인가를 정하는 것도 필요하다. O/S가 mount시킨 file system은 argument없이 mount명령으로 확인할 수 있다.
